“The active engagement of youth in sustainable development efforts is central to achieving sustainable, inclusive and stable societies!”
World Youth Report, United Nations.
The Issues
In today’s society young people are struggling with many issues that previous generations did not have to battle with. Added to this is the breakdown in community and family struggles leaving many young people without the help and input of a nurturing community. They feel alone and are unable to cope with the pressures of daily life leading to an increase in:
- Suicide
- Mental health issues
- Drug and alcohol abuse
- Relational insecurities
- Isolation
- Hopelessness
- Debilitating fear
- Lack of work-readiness
Our Responsibility
Our response to these problems is to work with our partners to provide mentors for young people. These mentors train young people to build healthy relationships using The Shapes Test™ plus address issues such as bullying, peer pressure, conflict resolution. On top of this we train the young people to build positive self-identity.
This training takes part within schools, faith communities, youth agencies and neighborhood groups.
